Daily Lesson Log Template: Format, Parts and a Filled Sample
An editable daily lesson log (DLL) template with the six parts, a filled weekly sample and tips to fill it in less time.
Draft My Lesson Team

A daily lesson log (DLL) is a compact weekly planning grid: one column per day, one row per part of the lesson. It is lighter than a detailed lesson plan and is used by many teachers in the Philippines to record a week of lessons on one or two pages.
- Daily lesson log template (Word, landscape) and (PDF)
- Filled sample week: Grade 5 English, main idea (Word)
Use the template your school requires. DepEd Order No. 42, s. 2016 describes the daily lesson log and its parts. Requirements, formats and exemptions can change and may be set by your division or school. These files are drafting aids, not official DepEd forms.
The six parts of a daily lesson log
| Part | What to write each day |
|---|---|
| Objectives | Content standard, performance standard and the day's learning competency |
| Content | The topic or subject matter |
| Learning resources | References, pages and materials |
| Procedures | The main steps of the lesson, from review to evaluation |
| Remarks | What happened: lesson completed, carried over, adjusted |
| Reflection | How many learners met the objective, what worked, what to change |

How to fill a DLL in less time
- Fill the week's competencies first. Copy them from your curriculum guide into the Objectives row for all five days.
- Plan procedures as a sequence. Monday introduces, Tuesday and Wednesday practice, Thursday applies, Friday checks.
- Keep procedures short. Use key verbs and activity names; the DLL is not a script.
- Write remarks and reflection the same day. Two lines written right after the lesson are worth more than a paragraph on Friday.
Filled sample week: Grade 5 English, main idea
| Day | Procedure summary |
|---|---|
| Monday | Review of topic sentences; read a short paragraph and find the main idea together |
| Tuesday | Guided practice with three paragraphs; underline supporting details |
| Wednesday | Pair work: match main ideas to paragraphs |
| Thursday | Independent practice: write a title that states the main idea |
| Friday | Five-item check; learners explain one answer |
The downloadable sample completes every row, including remarks and reflection prompts.
DLL or detailed lesson plan?
A DLL records a week in a grid; a detailed lesson plan describes one lesson step by step. See our detailed lesson plan guide for the 4As structure and a complete sample.

Plan the week, then draft each lesson
Draft My Lesson's Plan My Week helps you lay out a week of lessons, and each lesson can then be drafted with activities, assessment and student materials. Copy what you need into your school's DLL and review everything before teaching. It does not generate an official DepEd form. Your free account includes two complete lessons and Plan My Week.
